We are drawing mountains – a fun practice task for kids to work on! At the age of 8-11 a further development of technical drawing skills is happening. A more sophisticated (but not too complicated) tasks are used by art teachers and tutors to train kids memory and imagination. Nature sketches is always a win-win project, as it is relaxing, educational and exciting to work on. Mountains can be pretty difficult to draw for a beginner, so stylizing them to a more simple shapes is a good idea, as kids are learning how to put shapes together and size them without being overwhelmed.
We are also learning about horizon line and perspective, as well as its relation to the mountains and a river. Birds are helping us to see a perspective – the bigger birds are, the closer they are an vice a verse.
We used watercolors, painting paper pad, 2 brushes (#0 & #2), a jar with clear water and our imagination :).
Join us to enjoy the process!
