Drawing 1. Winter Birds

Let’s draw something funny and cute, like birds sitting on the tree branch :). I once saw parrots sitting in from of our window in Brooklyn in January – I couldn’t believe my eyes! We later learned that they escaped the zoo and were flying around the area. After that I am not surprised to see any kind of bird on the tree in winter :).

Please see our video tutorial below for a detailed drawing!

First you need to draw tree branches for birds to sit on. Then we start with creating several oval and shapes of different sizes. Some of the birds will be drawn from the side, so their shape consists of several circular shapes – those are our birds! We have several characters now, some of them will be sleeping :). We add wings with circular shape on each side of the oval, eyes and some feathers on the head :). Small black triangles which indicate the beak and add feet.

We can use different colors for each bird to add some creativity and fun. I am adding some shadows with the same color, but darker. Adding a black color as an outline here and there will help you to make the birds to pop up a little.

Then we are adding some pine tree branches, starting with a lighter green color and adding darker greens colors on top. The final step is to add some snow with a white marker or white acrylic paint!

Drawing 2. Birds and Trees

This lesson will show how to draw birds on the branch and funny trees, with different color leaves!

We again start with a tree branch for birds to sit on – this time it is only one branch! Then we create 5 oval and shapes of different sizes. We add their circles for eyes, wings with circular shape on each side of the oval, some feathers on the head, small black triangles for beaks and feet. We also need to draw three oval tree crowns and tree trunks – we will color them with different colors and add funny little leaves to it :).
