Everyone has his or her’s own tradition of celebrating (or not celebrating) Valentine’s Day on February 14th, but to all this day means lots of cute cupids, hearts, flowers, candies, cards and gifts all over the streets, cafes, offices and shops! It is one of the most romantic and beautiful days of the year, full of love, happiness, kisses and smiling faces!

Who is this mysterious St. Valentine, that made this day so famous around the world? The history of St. Valentine lasts from ancient Roman days when greeting spring became a real ritual that was inherited by Victorian England and its card-giving traditions. So it is a combination of Roman and Christian traditions to celebrate February as a month of romance and upcoming spring. Americans began to exchange hand-made valentines since the early 1700s and continue to celebrate it with millions of cards, gifts and love gifts!

Materials & tools:

  • rocks
  • acrylic paint (and a primer to prepare the rock surface)
  • pencil and paint brush / or acrylic markers (if you are not using the paint for drawing)
  • clear top sealer spray / or liquid varnish for safe exterior use afterwards
  • jar of water and a soft cloth to clear your brush
  1. So, first of all you need is LOVE!!! 🙂
  2. Then to wash the rocks if you found them outside let them dry (for 10-15 mins).
  3. Second step – is to paint it with the primer if you want it to have a white background – it can be All-purpose primer, or acrylic paint (preferably white in our case), or chalk paint. Otherwise just keep if natural color, if you prefer it this way.
  4. After the primer is dry use pencil to draw the preliminary shape of the object of your choice. Then start coloring them, you can blend acrylic colors to achieve a smooth transition from one color to another, or just use a bright color if you shape is simple!
  5. Once you are happy with your design, let it dry for about 30-40 minutes and finish with the top coat! All set and done!

Happy Valentine’s Day!!!

xoxo
